Judith Shearer holds an MFA in Writing from Spalding University. While she has written and published essays and short stories, All Bones Be White, the story of a slave named Cassy, is her first book. She has begun a second book, a sequel to the first book, about what happened to the people after Cassy’s trial.
Shearer began a national project The Same Stars Project after having learned about the thousands upon thousands of people who were slaves in the United States and after having learned it was illegal to mark their gravesites in any way. Shearer lives, writes and works in western Kentucky where history continues to hold her spellbound.
